Hi, I’m Elias
B. Elias Snyder, PhD, NP-C, ACHPN (he/they) is a queer, cisgender male from Baltimore (Piscataway lands) with mixed Syrian/Lebanese and European ancestry. He is the Founder of River Rock Global Collective, a nurse practitioner double board certified in primary care and palliative care/hospice, faculty at California Institute of Integral Studies, and a global health consultant & researcher.
He holds a PhD in East West Psychology from California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS) with a focus on Indigenous Science and Ancestral Healing, a Masters in Science from University of Maryland School of Nursing, and a Certificate in Psychedelic Therapy & Research from CIIS.
Elias has spent years living in East Africa, and continues to work on projects related to healthcare access, health systems strengthening, and health equity. Some professional highlights include directing the office of global health at University of Maryland School of Nursing, co-authoring trainings incorporated into the Rwandan National Policy on Nutrition, co-developing curricula with local mothers used by Gardens for Health International, UNICEF, and the World Food Program, and leading a global clinician education program at FAME hospital in Tanzania.
Elias’ approach focuses on reciprocal, global learning bridging community participatory design, Indigenous science and Euro-Western science through a lens of decolonization. He is currently leading various international research projects, teaching, facilitating retreats, and practicing in palliative care.
He was named a 2025 Emerging Leader in Palliative Care by the National Hospice & Palliative Care Nurses Foundation.
