Trip Overview

Where: Tanzania, East Africa
When: November 1–12, 2025
Who: Palliative & Hospice professionals (Physicians/NP/PA/RN/SW/Chaplain/Aides etc.) seeking a meaningful global learning experience

Cost: $4,500 per person for all 12 days (max group: 10 people)
Includes: Accommodation, meals & drinks, transportation within Tanzania, cultural activities, site visits, contributions to local PC projects including pediatric and community-based care initiatives
Not included: Airfare, visa, shopping

What to Expect

    • Introductory workshops on Tanzanian cultures and Swahili language basics

    • Workshops on identity, relationship building, and mindfulness

    • Site visits to ELCT Health System government hospitals, non-profit hospitals, community-based care centers, and outpatient PC programs

    • Small-group home visits with families receiving PC services

    • Conversations with Tanzanian clinicians about PC services, challenges, and innovations

  • Explore community-driven palliative care programs, including:

    • Pediatric initiatives and Income-generating projects for families receiving PC

    • Day care centers for patients and caregivers

    • Community health volunteer programs

    • Swahili cooking class, cultural tours, and visits to local markets

    • Immersive experience with Maasai tribe to learn about culture, traditions, and music

    • Inner work, body movement, and community-building activities

    • Enjoy local meals and the warmth of Tanzanian hospitality 

    • Intentional time for personal rest, relaxation, and reflection

    • Optional group activities to explore local sites

*Note - This is an immersive, bi-directional learning experience, not a medical or “mission” trip. Our goal is to engage, learn, and exchange knowledge, rather than provide direct clinical care.
